The Art of Shaving

We practiced scooping today with shaving cream and a pie tin:
Princess was loving the feeling of the shaving cream on her hands. The scooping part kind of ended before it started:
 Everyone got involved:
Princess just wanted to run around the yard and rub shaving cream on everything:
This was our final pie.  We decorated it with petals from my favorite rose bush that *someone* lovingly ripped apart. Thats okay because I thought the petals looked better in the pie than they did in the garden anyway:
My favorite photo of the day:

Dinosaur Day

Today we had Dinosaur Day at our house!!!!

No reason for it really. I got a dinosaur book at a yardsale this past weekend, so I figured it would be fun. I also picked up this fun sand table for $3.00....

One person in this photo may or may not have eaten sand????

We got lucky and found some dinosaur eggs:

But they were guarded by a BIG SCARY T-REX!!!

Princess approached carefully:

There is a cool recipe online for dinosaur eggs using dirt and sand, but I just used Play-Doh:

Princess found some cute baby dinos inside:

Son wore his cute dinosaur shirt:

And ate a brontosaurus:

Everyone around here is sick, so it was nice to see smiles:

Luckily my Princess found a big stick to beat the nasty T-Rex with:

We also did dinosaur puzzles and read our dinosaur book:

And did a sticker project:

And just in case you need a joke to tell a dinosaur loving kid:

What do you call a One-Eyed Dinosaur?
You call him a DO-YOU-THINK-HE-SAW-US....

Our Second Race

We ran our 2nd 5k today! Sister kicked my butt this time. I'm so proud of her.
I'm starting to think exercising once a month isn't the best way to improve my race time.

Sister's hard work in cross-country is paying off. She improved her time by 7 minutes.

This was Son's first race. It was an adjustment running with the jogging stroller, but he was very good and didn't cry until the very end.

Act of Kindness Letter F (Belated)

This act of kindness took us a few weeks because I was waiting on a check from a survey I did over the phone. Usually our acts of kindess budget is $10.00 or less. Since this was a bit more, I used half of the $60.00 check I got in the mail for this act and half for letter H.

We went to Publix and bought 68 boxes of pasta. They were on sale BOGO and I also used a $5.00 off  coupon for a total of just under $30.00.

Here are the babies before we left the house:

Hmmm....there is one thing ruining a perfect photo of Son.... and his name is GIZMO:

We intended to go to the Second Harvest Food Bank, but we got lost and it worked out even better. We ended up going to the St. Johns Ecumenical Ministries Food Pantry:

Princess REALLY wanted to go to the playground next door, but it was gated and part of a school. She was so sad:

I found a $10.00 bill in the parking lot and thought about keeping it. A reward for a good deed, perhaps? Luckily I realized that I was being selfish.... Definitely not what this was about, so I ended up wrapping it around a box of spaghetti.

Here is Princess during the drop-off:

Fire Station Tour

Happy Veteran's Day! We are getting ready to go out and enjoy a free meal at Applebee's. We go every Veteran's Day!

This morning we went on a tour of the fire station. The Princess got to go in the fire truck and Son got to wear the hat:

My Favorite Place in St. Augustine

Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche. The garden and chapel are so peaceful.

Here is the Princess in the chapel when she was 10 months old:

Act of Kindness Letter H

For the letter H we decided to help the homeless. I looked on the website for the St. Francis House and they requested person hygiene items. We went to the Dollar General and bought a bunch of shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss and then took it down town to drop it off. I didn't take any pictures while we were there because both babies were crying, a Minnie Mouse shoe flew into the street...it was complicated. But it seemed like a great organization. Maybe someday we can volunteer our time there.

Tell Me a Story

Here's a true story of October 31st 2013:

I stay up until midnight after spending an hour trying to open a coconut that Boss found in South Florida while heroically catching lobsters for the family. Despite reading several websites explaining how to do it, I fail.

I give up and go to bed.

At 1 am Princess starts crying and won't go back to sleep. I decide to change her, so while I am in her room getting a diaper, she pees in my bed.

We move to the couch. After an hour, she finally starts quieting down and then....

Gizmo starts crying and growling because he can't find his toy! I get up and find the toy, but now both babies are up.

30 minutes later, Son is asleep and Princess is almost asleep and...

GIZMO is crying again!!!!! He wants to go out at 2:45 am. Ugh no! I put him back on the couch and he gets up and runs to my bedroom and is in there crying AGAIN!

Both babies up now.

Finally at 4am we all fall asleep.

Up at 6am and here's the fun part:

I  go to take a shower. Princess is playing with toys in the bathroom. She then dumps an entire mega size bottle of baby wash on the carpet. I wash her off and go to her room to get her new clothes. She runs to the kitchen for a second and comes back to get dressed. We go in my room to clean up the rug and I get ready for the day.

20 minutes later:

I come out to the kitchen to find that she turned the water on when she ran in there earlier. My compost bowl was in the sink...causing it to... FLOOD MY ENTIRE KITCHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Water was everywhere 1 inch deep.

I cry for 15 minutes.

As I am carrying every towel in the house to the laundry...I see another puddle. I suppose Gizmo was mad at me from the previous night because he peed right on the floor!!! He never does that anymore. No shame in his game apparently.

My laundry room looked like a hotel washroom. My bedding, about 15 towels, the bath rugs...oh and all this happened the day after I finished washing a bunch of towels, blankets, and bedding from our house guests last weekend.

Hahaha.....it was crazy!

Speaking of stories...

Every Thursday we go to the library for story time. Sometimes we get there late and just look at books. Then we go to the playground.

Here was us at the library on Thursday:

Our family is on a new diet, so I am reading a lot about Raw food uncooking. We are also going Gluten free. The new diet has taken a lot of planning and I am learning how to cook in new ways. We are mostly eating fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and organic meats and fish. No processed food or grains. Its an adjustment, but worth it.

Pop N Off Popcorn

Today we took a tour of Pop N Off Popcorn in St. Augustine. Princess wanted to work there I think. None of my photos turned out because she was moving so quick!!! The store is in an old house in the historic district and it is so cute. The popcorn is delicious.

The owner gave Princess a little bag of her favorite flavor, Birthday Cake, to bring home.

She also had a cup of Candy Cane flavor, I think. It was so good that it made her dance in the street!

She always stops to smell the roses..or whatever flowers are available for smelling.

Outside the Castillo de San Marcos. Find out about it HERE. It is a National Park and there is a free annual pass for all National Parks available to the Military. Go to this site for details.
