Math Activity with Eggs

 I made this activity with a mat that I printed for free from Shelfwork.com.

 

I stuck some double sided sticky tape onto each number and wrote the numbers 1 to 10 on foam eggs purchased from Hobby Lobby.

 

Princess just had to match the numbered eggs to the numbers on the mat. I tried to get her to say each number when she matched them. She struggles with 8 and 3 and 6 and 9.

 

After we finished placing the eggs, I made sure that she pointed to each and counted to 10. She can count to 10 just fine, but I am trying to teach her quanitity....that each number corresponds to an item.

She has started taking her bird "acting" very seriously and wanted to place the eggs with her mouth. Now, I guess I need to look it up because I didn't think birds carried eggs in their mouths. Maybe Princess knows something I do not:
