25 Days of Christmas-Day 2- (Salt Dough Ornaments)

Last night we made salt dough ornaments. The ornaments are easy to make IF you don't have any little trouble making elves running around...if so, it becomes a little more complex, but still FUN!!!

To make the ornaments just mix:

1 cup of salt

1 cup of flour

and

1/2 cup of warm water.

Knead the dough for a few minutes and then use a rolling pin to flatten. You could use cookie cutters or form the dough into your own shapes. I just made pretty pathetic circles and we did hand print ornaments. Make sure to poke a hole so you can put string through it to hang on the tree!

Bake at 200 degrees for 3 hours. I left mine in about 4 hours because our dough was thick.

I let Princess play with the dough before putting it into the oven:
Here is one of our ornaments right before we baked it:
After they were done, we painted them:
And we also painted our faces (well one of us did):
This is how they looked when finished. Sister made a Justin Bieber ornament:
This is Son's handprint:
We may have over did it with the paint on this one. Its kind of clumpy, but hey, its not easy to paint while wearing a Princess crown:
